There’s no parking, so I spent half an hour looking for a spot every day. At night it was noisy, with other guests slamming doors or talking loudly in the stairwell. The room smelled strongly of smoke despite being designated non-smoking. There was no wardrobe, the laminate floor needed sealing, and the toilet seat was broken. I had to fix the flush myself.

The bathroom was so waterlogged and stagnant, you could breed fish in it. The accommodation was also hard to find, with no sign at the entrance. It’s a worker’s apartment. There was apparently meant to be a flat-screen TV in the room, but it was supposedly broken. With no pre-drilled holes for the wall-mounted TV, I might have thought it was broken too.

At €2,000 a month, I decided against staying long-term. The price was already far too high, and the rest of the experience was outrageous. We were put on the third floor, which is normal enough, but my grandmother has great difficulty walking and there was no help at all getting her up there. The bathroom door wouldn’t lock, which is inconvenient with four people sharing the apartment. The apartment door was dilapidated, and the walls between the neighbors’ apartments and the bathroom were very thin. If I could, I’d give it no stars.

The room itself was clean, but the building smelled of smoke and marijuana. There was a lot of noise inside, from music and people getting up early, and outside from the road and railway when trying to get some fresh air.
