Garner Hotel Mainz by IHG

For a stopover, the location worked well: it's in a retail area with plenty of shops, next to a McDonalds and Burger King, and close to several motorways. Mainz city centre is about 10-15 minutes away by car, though the hotel is a little out of the way. We spent one night there and found it quiet despite the motorway being nearby. The room was clean and fairly spacious, with the expected amenities for the price, a nice shower room, and a very comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and the hotel was pleasant overall. Breakfast was good, though I would have liked more choice, especially since there was no orange juice. It was a good experience for the price, and we'll come back on our next trip across Germany.

Everything else was fantastic, from the clean, well-equipped room to the welcoming staff. Breakfast was normal. But I don't like noise at night, and the rooftop air-conditioning units were very noisy, so some nighttime noise is something to expect here.

I've stayed twice to split up a long drive. It's a pleasant hotel, with comfortable rooms, a good breakfast, and great value. The room was spotless, but housekeeping kept bothering me even though the advertised checkout time was midday. I'd stay again, and would make sure reception knew if I didn't want to be disturbed.

A good hotel to stay at, with solid public transport connections.
