Best Western Hotel Mainz

The layout was a fun surprise: the hotel sits on a slope, with five separate levels, so the entrance that seems to be on the ground floor is actually level five. It has a bit of a labyrinth feel. My room was spacious and had a comfortable desk, a TV in the center, blackout curtains, and a spotless bathtub, which I didn’t expect in a 3-star hotel. Two bottles of Black Forest water were waiting there too, a lovely touch. Everything was exceptionally clean, and breakfast was delicious. The staff made me feel very welcome, and check-in was quick and easy. Setting up Wi-Fi was simple, and it was fast enough for work or relaxing. The TV also had lots of channels, including international ones in several languages. I honestly hadn’t expected such a great stay.

I arrived after 9 PM and was greeted warmly, with no trouble checking in. The staff managed to surprise me at every turn. I also loved finding two bottles of Black Forest water, one of my favorites. Breakfast was excellent. I really enjoyed my short stay. Mainz HBF is just a 12-minute walk away, and walking is quicker than any other transport option. 👏 Highly recommended!

I've stayed here several times, and the floor makes a big difference. Rooms above ground level, 5 and up, are fine. On the lower levels, there was a chemical smell, possibly meant to hide mold, along with cigarette smoke. I had constant headaches and felt light-headed. If you get a lower room, you're much better off finding somewhere else. I wouldn't pay in advance without a refund option, since they can't make adjustments even if the room is making you physically ill.

The breakfast buffet was well stocked, and it wasn't very busy outside peak business hours. I had a fine few nights here. The place was clean and functional, with no complaints from me. The lifts are slow, so be ready to take the stairs for a few floors.
