ibis Mainz City

The staff were well informed, and housekeeping was excellent. This Ibis is clean, offers breakfast and free wifi, and is well situated near downtown. The train station for Frankfurt Flughafen is just a four-minute walk away.

I spent 8 nights here and liked the hotel overall. It’s a very simple 2 star place without much to offer, but it has what you need. The location is amazing, with enough restaurants close by and a REWE ( Supermarket ) right across the road. The Rhein River is only a 5 min walk away. Breakfast was good, nothing special, but nothing to complain about either.

The daytime staff were much friendlier and more helpful, and the location is great, within walking distance of the city centre. The rooms are small and fairly basic, with no fitness facilities. Check-in was awkward: around 9pm, I waited at the counter for about five minutes without anyone acknowledging me. I was also disappointed not to get the 100 points for choosing the Green option because the staff member refused to enter my membership number into the system.

The hotel and room were clean and quiet, but I probably wouldn’t stay again because there are no tea or coffee facilities in the room. I know that’s just my personal preference. We also had a bad start. We had two rooms, and when we arrived later, there was someone else in bed in one of them. Neither of the two keys for the other room worked, so we had to go back down to reception to get it sorted. There were three women travelling together, and walking in on a man in his boxers was not ideal. It would have been even worse if we’d been in the room, half dressed in bed, and a man had let himself in.
