Hotel Moguntia

The location worked well for me: it’s ten minutes from the railway station, three from a shop, and there are cafes and small restaurants nearby. My room was quiet, with almost no street noise. But it looked old and worn, unlike the photos, with squeaky, dated furnishings. I was on the top floor, where the internet barely worked. I could sometimes connect, but it was too weak for work. The bed was uncomfortable, and the TV felt ancient and useless. Reception is open only a few hours in the morning and a little in the afternoon, so there’s no way to leave luggage when the hotel is closed. During my four-night stay, my room wasn’t cleaned even though I put “make my room” on the door. It only seemed as if someone had cleaned. The bedding wasn’t changed, and I got fresh towels once.

I liked being able to open the windows for fresh air, and the room was very spacious. The bed was a good size, but the mattress felt too soft and bouncy for me, so I didn’t find it very comfortable. The internet was terrible, and the heater made a loud noise when turned up.

The location was quiet and close to the station and lots of nice restaurants. My room was large and clean, and breakfast was included in the low price, which made it very good value. The furnishings weren’t especially modern, but that was fine for me. I arrived late to check in, but picking up the key was easy, and the owner replied to all my email questions very quickly. I’d stay again.

The room was exceptionally cozy, and I slept well every night. Staff were so friendly and helpful, and I had a great time. Breakfast was simple but fine. There was a hair dryer and a small fridge, though no minibar, and the bathroom was completely clean. The location isn’t prime, but it’s still within walking distance.
