Hotel Haus Müller

Our room was on the top floor of Gastehaus Mueller, and the view over the castle and city was amazing. It was squeaky clean, and the beds were comfortable. The owners were kind and wonderful. We also really enjoyed breakfast, and they kept bringing us as many broetchen as two people could possibly eat! The location was excellent for exploring Marburg, with great access to public transportation. I highly recommend it.

The Innkeeper was always kind and ready to help, and the rooms were clean. We could walk to the old town and historical places in just a few minutes. We loved everything about this place and would recommend it to anyone visiting beautiful Marburg.

I was in Marburg for a business trip, spending the day with a collaborator at the University of Marburg, so my room was mainly for resting and getting some end-of-day work done. I stayed in room 8, which faced a side road and had a limited view. That didn’t bother me much, as I was usually focused on my 13" Mac screen. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. The bed did what I needed, and the working table with its cute, artistically designed lamp shade made a good workspace. The toilet and bathroom are tight by today’s standards, but once I figured out how to maneuver in there, it was just enough for the time I needed. The modern fixtures all worked perfectly and were sparklingly clean. What appealed to me most was the internet. If you need to stay connected, it’s great: 5Mbps, fast enough for my usual work, with minimum lag. Breakfast was generous too, enough to get energized and stay that way until lunch. The place is rich in tradition, down to the perfectly working analog telephone by the window and the keys for both your room and the front door. That all felt surreal. It looks like grandma’s house from outside, but I’d recommend it to my friends, and certainly not to my enemies. :D There’s a larger room on the second floor with a terrace just one floor above the brook below. I can imagine that being a nicer stay, with more space and a better view, though I have no complaints about room 8. Book ahead, and save the hotel’s phone number on your mobile. There’s no usual front desk, and the open door lets you go straight inside.

The rooms were comfortable, and the service was wonderful. It’s a simple place with good prices and a charming, familiar atmosphere, right in central Marburg.
