I came to Menschels after trying another well-known German fasting clinic, and I've really enjoyed it here. It's peaceful, without the stress of daily body measurements, and the fasting package includes plenty of interesting treatments. The gardens are beautiful, the wellness area is relaxing, and the outdoor sauna is fabulous. Getting here is easy even without a car: take the train to Bad Sobernheim, then it's only a seven-minute taxi ride to the resort. I was fasting, and I'd absolutely recommend the stay to anyone wanting a quiet fasting break with qualified supervision. I found the place clean and full of a calming energy, with a soul of its own. Some reviews say the resort is worn and needs renovation. It is quite old, but that didn't bother me. A longer stay with three meals a day could get repetitive if you're not fasting. The food seems aimed at the mostly German clientele, with lots of bread and pasta. My partner stayed while I fasted and liked breakfast best, with lots of choice and eggs, usually cooked rather than scrambled or fried. Lean meat isn't served often, though smoked fish comes regularly. Dinner is either buffet style or you choose from the menu options in the morning. During our 14 days, meat was offered five times.

I'm here for my second visit, and it's been wonderful again. A few massages had to be cancelled because of illness, which no one can help. I come from the Moselle region, just over an hour away, and I'll definitely return for a day of spa pampering. You can really treat yourself here. I'll be back. Best wishes, Elke Lohmann

This was my third fasting visit, and I'm still delighted. Haus Igelsberg has the pricier first-category rooms, with lovely nature views and more modern furnishings. The more affordable rooms in Südhaus are perfectly fine for me, though. Next time I'll save the money and spend longer in category II. Menschel's provides great support during fasting, with sports like yoga, Pilates, and hiking, plus very friendly staff. Fasting guests have their own restaurant section, where nice groups often come together. The area is excellent for cycling and hiking. You can rent bikes, but if you plan to ride up into the vineyards, bring your own e-bike.

The grounds are spacious and beautifully kept, the medical and therapeutic treatments are excellent, and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. There's also a full program of sports and wellness activities to keep things varied. This was my first fasting retreat, and I found Menschels by chance. Everything fell into place. Fasting and recovery guests eat together, which helped me meet others having the same experience. Most had been before and shared what they'd learned. The tables were decorated with lovely flowers, a real treat for the soul. A wonderful spot to pause and give body and mind a fresh start.
