Strümper Hof

We decided on dinner here spontaneously with five people. The rustic, country-style atmosphere was nice, and the service was good. All of our meals were fresh and delicious. The menu isn’t very large, so there’s less reason to worry about frozen food. The chef knows what he’s doing!

There’s a restaurant in the building with a broad choice of food and drinks, and depending on the season you can buy game meat on-site. My room was small, maybe 4 square meters, but adequate for the price, and the bathroom was a decent size. I was satisfied overall and would return.

The hotel was very clean and had the basic amenities. I also had a delicious meal in the attached restaurant. Breakfast wasn’t available, unfortunately. The rooms didn’t feel worth 150+ and 160+, since the higher rates turned out to be due to a shortage caused by a concert. The man handling both reception and service on his own did his very best, with jokes and plenty of flair.

We went to Strümper Hof again and chose the Easter menu. What a wonderful evening. The table was beautifully set, and we received a very warm welcome. Service was attentive, with plenty of time between courses. Everything was excellent and high-quality, made with fantastic ingredients and, most importantly, served piping hot. The fish, game, and lamb were a delight, and the wine pairings were superb too. Highly recommended. On the way out, I discovered their partnership with the Mohr winery in the Rheingau region. That made me very happy, as we once took a cooking class there. We’ll definitely be back. The tapas evening in the fall was already fantastic, and next we want to try the potato pancakes on Wednesday.
