The room was spacious and the shower was good, but it felt cold because the small radiator sits behind the curtains. Check-in is self-service, and the whole place felt impersonal. You can only reach anyone by phone or email, and there are no facilities, not even a way to make a hot drink. Parking is usually off-site, though we could leave the car behind the hotel since it was nearly empty. The central location helps, as you need to find your own restaurants and cafes. It sounds much grander than it is, and I wouldn’t choose to stay there again.

Once inside, the hotel is surprisingly nice, even though you wouldn’t guess it from the outside. There seem to be several guests, but nobody else around, not even staff, which feels a bit odd. Still, it’s okay, and self check-in works fine. A kettle with some instant coffee would have been a nice addition. I don’t really understand why there isn’t one.

There’s lots of parking, and Merzig’s center is an easy walk away. The rooms upstairs are reached by stairs. Inside, the renovated townhouse has generous, high-ceilinged rooms with a lovely modern update, plus a well-equipped kitchen and shared areas. It’s an interesting new idea for an easy overnight stay, tucked on a quiet side street in the heart of the city.
