Christian and Zora were especially welcoming. They both spoke excellent English and made the atmosphere feel relaxed and cheerful. The hotel itself is peaceful and comfortable, set in a striking building in a beautiful location. Our spaniel enjoyed the extensive grounds and getting a dip in the river, and we appreciated that dogs are welcome. Breakfast was excellent and the set evening meal was very good. There’s no restaurant service during the day, and dinner comes without a choice of evening menu. The hotel hosts weddings and large groups, so it can get busy during daytime, though evenings are quiet. You can see the history of the building and the Boch family’s technical skill and manufacturing throughout, but it’s all presented in an understated way.

The castle is big and very pretty, but our stay wasn’t a good one. Some of the staff shouldn’t be working in hospitality. They were so unfriendly toward children that calling them not kid friendly would be putting it mildly. Don’t bring children here.

The early 1900s antique style gives this charming venue a timeless feel. We had a wonderful time celebrating with friends, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who likes a vintage atmosphere.

The staff were friendly, and I’d definitely recommend this lovely hotel. It’s a historic building, so the hallway floor can squeak a little, though we couldn’t hear it from inside our room. Our restroom was clean and modern, and the toiletries were good quality. The decor is tasteful, and breakfast came with very elegant porcelain. Getting a room took some persistence: I checked several times starting a couple of months before the trip, then only found availability the night before departure.
