Hotel Land Gut Höhne

We really loved our stay and hope to return. The grounds are huge and well cared for, with beautiful autumn colours that made for lovely walks. In the spa, the quiet areas were relaxing, it was clean, and the rules were respected. It wasn’t crowded, and we often had the pool or sauna to ourselves. The indoor saunas are larger, while the outdoor ones are smaller, so you might wait for another couple there. The staff were cheerful, friendly, and helpful, and made us feel welcome. Food was a real highlight, from the morning and evening buffets to fresh sushi, fish, three kinds of meat, fresh pasta, side dishes, appetizers, and a lovely range of desserts. There was plenty of choice for different diets, and we especially liked the morning juice machine. A few things could be better. The snack buffet has lots of carbs and greens, but it would be nice to have some protein options too, even though the waffles and cakes are amazing. The slippers aren’t water resistant, and we saw several pairs come apart in the sauna. There could also be more signs in English, especially for rules in the sauna area, where we couldn’t use our phones to translate them. It would be nice to make things a little easier for English speaking guests.

The restaurant was the real standout, with excellent ingredients and lots of options. I also loved the sweet afternoon treat, which came as a lovely surprise. The one thing I missed was having cake or pastries at breakfast every day, rather than only on weekends. Hotel Land Gut Höhne is a quiet place to unwind, surrounded by lovely fields and nature. The rooms have a warm, cozy feel, with stone and wood details, and the mattress was exceptionally comfortable. As we wandered around, we kept finding more little things to enjoy. We spent hours playing billiards and table football, walking through the fields, having drinks by the fireplace, and relaxing in the spa. There was something special around every corner, so the stay was both restful and fun.

We really enjoyed our weekend at Hotel Land Gut Höhne and would come back, though with the accommodation price I can only give it 4 stars. I’d give 4.5 if that were possible. The service was excellent, with every staff member we met polite and professional. The hotel has a great atmosphere, and the food was fresh, tasty, and varied. I’m vegetarian and was worried there might not be much for me, especially with the buffet advertising live cooking, which often means lots of meat and fish. That wasn’t an issue at all, there was a huge selection for me. The room could have been more comfortable on a very hot night. We arrived during one of the hottest days of the year, and there was no AC. After showering it also felt a bit humid. Our double room had two single beds pushed together, and we would have preferred one proper double bed. It would have been nice to have complimentary table water in the room and with dinner, especially above 30 C. The dinner water seemed like tap water in hotel branded bottles and was quite expensive.

The beef and sushi were so good. We also loved the spacious room, the fresh air, and the lovely grounds. The cat and bird houses were really cute!
