The location itself is lovely, with the castle and its park within walking distance, but a car is really needed for shopping and most other things. We spent a week here in October and barely slept. The beds were awful: hastily put-together board frames and a mattress that couldn’t cushion against them because there was no give between the slats. I’d have been more comfortable on a sleeping mat on the floor. And even if you managed to sleep, cars going far above the 30 km/h limit on the cobblestone road right beside the place would wake you within minutes. Some had trailers and made so much noise that I couldn’t relax on vacation. The TV was hard to hear, and even talking got drowned out. There was dust and dirt left from the previous guest under the beds, in the corners, beneath the radiator and behind the door. The rental company should take responsibility for sorting that out. The kitchen was homemade like the beds, but usable. The coffee machine had clearly seen better days, and I went without coffee all week. The shower and toilet were clean. The yard was neglected. The walnut tree had dropped all its nuts, and walking around risked twisting an ankle. Nobody cleared the nuts or leaves. The playground equipment looked homemade but worked. The sandbox was full of grass and droppings, and its rotten boards need replacing. The trampoline worked well, though, and our kids loved it. Under the carport there was a big bucket full of ash and cigarette butts. I couldn’t find any information about whether or how to rent the bicycles.
