ADAC Campingplatz

The setting is lovely, and there’s a lot to enjoy in the surrounding area. We stayed two nights at the motorhome site at the end of February, though, and the fresh water and waste disposal were out of service. Getting to the sanitary block meant quite a walk; it was clean but clearly dated. The place still felt like it was in its winter lull, with a backlog of renovations showing through. I understand that work is apparently planned for this year, which seems like a good move.

The pitch itself is badly neglected, and the water and waste disposal facilities are out of order. For us, that makes this motorhome pitch a no-go. The setting could be lovely, and they could do much more with it. Still, it is Möhnesee, so the appeal is obvious.

The apartment itself is quite nice, but after two sleepless nights I left, even though I was meant to stay three. Cleaning was poor: the bathroom bin was still full, the toilet was dirty, there were marks on the kitchen and furniture, and the floor was stained and greasy. Ventilation was a real problem in the heat. The flap over the entrance would not open, there were no other windows to open, and the patio door would not tilt. Leaving that door wide open overnight did not seem like a good option. The skylight electronics were not working, and the landlord said they had been struck by lightning. The hatches kept opening and closing by themselves during the night, as did the blinds, and it was impossible to miss the noise. I was told everything would be fixed, but it wasn’t, and my emails still haven’t received a reply.

The whole campsite is very clean, with spotless toilets and showers. Water and waste disposal are included at no extra cost, and the price seems fair. There are only a few pitches at the moment, but they plan to add more next year.
