Landhotel Schützenhof

The Wi-Fi was so weak I couldn't even check email, and the lobby had water damage with loose floor tiles. The place feels very worn out: there were previous guests' belongings in the minibar, and the shower head was coated in limescale and wouldn't stay on the wall. Dead mosquitoes had left bloodstains across the walls and ceilings, while tape was holding the mosquito net to the window frame. At €130 a night for a double room, it felt outrageously expensive. I'd have been better off at a youth hostel. Easily the worst hotel I've stayed in for years.

The construction workers staying there got up early and disturbed the other guests. I understand they were trying to fill rooms during the pandemic, but I still didn't feel comfortable. Breakfast meant going to a nearby bakery, and there was nowhere at the inn to buy drinks. Reception was only staffed for a short time in the morning.

For 130 euros, a double room without breakfast in this shabby 70s hotel is outrageous. I'd go 5 euros farther north to the Schuh Hotel instead. It's much better quality, and a double room with breakfast costs 70 euros there.

The room was lovely, clean, and looked great. Finding just a key with some notes when I arrived was a bit confusing, but that was a small thing. I had a really pleasant stay at the country hotel and would happily come back.
