The staff were very friendly, and the room rates were genuinely affordable. It's also an easy walk to Marienplatz, the downtown area in Mönchengladbach. Breakfast was just okay apart from the eggs, which weren't hard-boiled, a nice touch. I might stay again because of the price and location. My room faced the road, and the old windows let in quite a bit of noise. It didn't bother me much, though others might find it an issue. There was also a strong smell of smoke in the hallway on my floor despite the no-smoking sign at the entrance. I don't know where it came from. The carpet was in poor shape, the soap dispenser was empty, and the promised fruit plate wasn't there when I arrived.

For €25 per person, I expected better. The furniture is very old, and the rooms smell damp and smoky. It seemed like the place hadn't been refurbished for about 30 years. They don't list the price online, and I can see why. For a similar amount, or maybe a little more, you can find a much better hotel and get a better night's sleep.

I stayed for three nights, and the beds and rooms both felt about 25 years old. The rooms need renovation, and they face a two-pillar road.

It's an old hotel, though the staff were very pleasant.
