Hey Lou Hotel Monheim am Rhein

Breakfast was a highlight, with a generous selection, fresh ingredients and consistently good cooking. A service robot collecting dishes was an unexpected, fun touch. The rooms and common areas were spotless, and the staff were polite, attentive and well trained without getting in your way. I recently spent two nights at the Hotel and came away with a very pleasant impression. Its position by a calm river makes for fresh air, soothing views and a break from urban noise. It’s also convenient if you want a restful night before continuing toward Düsseldorf or Köln. A comfortable, convenient and modern stay, and one I’d confidently recommend to travelers passing through the region.

The bathroom was the problem. The toilet was still dirty, with leftovers from the previous guest on the seat and in the bowl. Even at a cheaper hotel, I think it should be cleaned. It’s a shame, since the rest was OK. When we arrived, the hotel seemed pretty OK and check-in was very easy. Breakfast was fine, actually pretty good. That toilet is why I’m giving it two stars.

I booked through my company's website, but after the reservation several colleagues were moved to other hotels, which made organizing our business trip harder. The booking was non-refundable, and they kept the payment as if it belonged to them, even though the alternative hotels were sometimes cheaper. They also made a fuss when we asked for a receipt. Terrible service.

I had booked four nights for a business trip in Jan, a month ahead, and my card was charged in full that same day because the reservation was non-refundable. Then, on the day I was meant to check in, I got an email saying the booking was canceled and suggesting I go to another hotel. It was very inconvenient: we had arranged a car with colleagues, but I had to stay alone in a cheaper hotel and find my own way to work. They also refused to give me an invoice for accommodation paid with a business card, didn’t reimburse the price difference and never apologized. This was unacceptable behavior and a very shocking, disrespectful experience. I’ve never been treated this way before, and this is my first review on Googel.
