It was okay, but you can get a much better place for less money.

We used the place as a base for a hiking trip with two friends, and the location was generally good. The landlord was very friendly when we handed over the keys. Still, the apartment felt too expensive for what it offered. The partly frosted glass sliding door to the bathroom gives far too little privacy. There are better options. The shower gel and shampoo seemed to have been left by the previous tenant, and food left in the fridge shouldn't count as a service from the house. The place hadn't been cleaned properly: the vinyl floor was splitting at the seams, and the area in front of the sofa bed hadn't been vacuumed.

The location is great for both walking and enjoying a lively atmosphere with shops. Head down the stairs outside and you'll reach central Monschau in about a minute; take the stairs up to the right and you're straight onto lovely walking paths. Both apartments have outdoor seating, and the apartment itself is tidy and very spacious.

The price is hard to beat, and while this isn't a four-star hotel, we felt there was little to complain about for what we paid. The apartment is roomy, with separate bedrooms that have doors, wardrobes in each room, a bath and shower, a well-equipped kitchen, and a terrace. There's even a coffee machine and bottle opener. It's right in the center, close to two bakeries and several restaurants. Our host was still very kind even though I was almost an hour late for our appointment. A couple of things could be improved: adding internet would make sightseeing easier without roaming charges, and a motion-sensor light would help on the outside stairs. The soundproofing also isn't very good, though that seems common even in four-star hotels.
