The shared space is surprisingly roomy, with a cozy sofa, and the kitchen has enough appliances and dishes to make just about anything. There’s free coffee and tea, plus a small self-service shop downstairs with reasonable prices. That’s handy since there are hardly any grocery stores in the city centre and many cafes close by 9 in the evening. The shower was spotless, and self check-in was easy. My room was small, but I was on my own, so it worked fine. The place was comfortable and clean. If you’re arriving by public transport with a suitcase, keep in mind it’s about 15 minutes from the bus stop, and the old town pavement is rough for wheeled luggage. There’s no elevator either, though that wasn’t an issue for me with just cabin-sized luggage.

The huge shared dining room has everything you need, and there’s even a balcony with grill facilities. It’s a central, clean place and budget friendly, great for groups or families. Everything runs online, so we didn’t meet anyone in person, but the owner or manager confirmed things and kept in touch properly. They were very friendly. Best group accommodation we’ve had.

We’ve stayed here twice, and it’s been a fantastic base for a group both times. The beds are really comfortable, and the place feels clean, cozy and charming. The kitchen is beautifully equipped. The owners are incredibly friendly, which makes communication easy and pleasant. There’s also a shop inside where you can pick up drinks, snacks or food at very reasonable prices.

The upstairs bedrooms are pretty noisy because there’s no floor insulation, so you walk on the boards that you can see from the living room ceiling below. On our first night there was a sewage smell, which turned out to be due to the water level in the Roer. The manager acted quickly to sort it out. It’s a comfortable apartment within walking distance of the center of Monschau, and a fine place for a short visit.
