Mirage

Breakfast was fine for one night, but having the same thing each day didn't work for a longer stay. And not being able to get an evening meal at the hotel was a real letdown, especially since there seem to be plenty of possibilities if they were used. We stayed three days with an eBay voucher. The seating was very worn, and when we pulled out a chair, we found the previous guest's underwear. We weren't expecting much, but this wasn't what we'd pictured for a 3-star hotel. We were only greeted briefly at reception, and as mentioned, there was no welcome drink. We can't recommend it as things are now.

The Mirage Hotel serves a liter of local mineral water each day, and breakfast has coffee, juice, sausages, omelettes, rolls, cheese and cold cuts. There was also a separate plate of regional specialties. We especially liked the liverwurst, Thüringer Leberwurst, a rich meat pâté with protected designation of origin. But what stood out most was the bed. We haven't found one this soft anywhere else on our travels.

Nothing really stood out. The rooms were okay, but the towels were badly frayed and breakfast was nothing special. We had won an eBay voucher that included a welcome cocktail, yet the greeting was very rude and the cocktail never came.

An event on the hotel's roof terrace kept me awake even with the window shut. I didn't manage to sleep until it was over and lost three hours of rest. That really shouldn't happen. Such a shame.
