Holiday Inn Express Mulheim - Ruhr by IHG

We were hungry after breakfast, which was very poor and offered little variety. The rooms were tiny, with almost no room for belongings or clothes, and there were no toiletries, not even earbuds or cosmetic tampons. Our company had already paid the invoice in advance, but they still charged us for our rooms for 10 people, 3 nights. We only noticed later and had to ask for a refund.

The accessible room worked really well for me as a disabled solo traveler. It was clean and well kept, with a safe, easy-to-use bathroom. I also found the staff friendly, helpful, and very professional. Getting around was straightforward: taxis arrived within minutes of asking at reception, and although the hotel isn't downtown, transport links are easy. Breakfast had a fresh variety of food that was easy to reach. In the lobby, there was a nicely priced cold beer in the evening, too. Families have a McDonalds next door, and Turkish family restaurants are a short walk, tram, or taxi ride away. When I’m in Cologne, I’d happily stay at this comfortable, well-run hotel again.

The only drawback was the basement parking, which costs 12 euros a day. Otherwise, it's close to the center, with clean rooms, good service, a tasty breakfast, and quality coffee.

The hotel is right in the town centre, with parking underneath. Shops, restaurants, parks, paths, and the riverfront are all close by. The rooms were great, and breakfast was excellent.
