The restaurant food is fantastic, especially the traditional German dishes, which are at a level you usually find only in Michelin-starred places. The decor can look a little dated, as the bathroom photos show, but everything is impeccably cared for. The owners run the hotel themselves and are friendly and helpful. Service and friendliness are still clearly a priority here.

Our children bought a house nearby, so we all had dinner at the Kastanie restaurant today. It's rustic and a bit dated, but so well cared for. Even the old restrooms are kept in great shape, which tells you enough about the kitchen. You do have to wait a little for the food since the owner cooks on his own, but the quality is absolutely top notch. All the meat was cooked perfectly. The lamb rump looked ready for Instagram, and my Düsseldorf mustard roast was a dream, pink in the middle, with delicious sauce and crisp fried potatoes. The venison rump was so tender it melted in my mouth, served with homemade Marcair potatoes. For dessert we had the obligatory chocolate cake with a molten center, fruit, and vanilla ice cream. The owner deserves nothing but praise, and his wife was always friendly and a wonderful hostess. Everyone was delighted. The prices are absolutely fair, and we'll happily come back again and again.

Mrs. Weinmeister is very friendly and always has time for a chat. This small hotel is close to the motorway, with parking just behind the building. The rooms are small but quite adequate, and despite being near the road, evenings are quiet. Breakfast and dinner are both very good. I'd gladly stay here again.

The traditional, home-style restaurant was excellent. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, and the food arrived hot and tasted great. Highly recommend.

The annual winter goose dinner is the highlight of our visits to Mülheim an der Ruhr. We've been coming for years and always enjoy it. The cuisine is excellent, service is superb, and the prices are absolutely fair.
