I’d booked and paid through Hotels.com in advance, but the hotel kept messaging me to pay again. When I arrived late at night, the place was shut, with no staff or reception, and the self check-in machine wouldn’t work. I tried scanning the QR code several times, but got nowhere. From 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., I was outside trying to reach them by phone and message, with no answer. I eventually got in using an old QR code they’d sent earlier while asking for payment again. Inside, my room was tiny, about 2 square meters, like a box, and breakfast was extremely poor. There was no staff around at any time, including in the morning. Very disappointing and misleading. This didn’t feel like a four-star hotel, or even close to a two-star one.

For about £65 per night, I got a roomy, well-laid-out room with very good quality. It felt like Premier Inn pricing with Marriott or Novotel quality. No complaints.

Breakfast was pretty standard, with boiled and scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, rolls, bread, toppings, juice, water, cereal, milk, and coffee. You had to use the machine yourself, though none of my colleagues complained. I stayed in a single room. It was small, with a nice light wooden interior, and had a quite large bathroom with underfloor heating. The shower temperature was easy to set, and the room was quiet, whether because there weren’t many guests or because it’s just a quiet place. I had a very pleasant stay. The only downside was the hallway lighting, where the motion detector seemed to have a problem, hopefully temporarily.

A pleasant, well-maintained place, but there was no English translation and no air conditioning in the rooms. The hotel accepted credit cards, but the restaurant didn’t.

The restaurant serves good Bavarian food with proper beer, and the rooms are cozy. Prices are very reasonable for Munich. A really nice place I can wholeheartedly recommend.
