The location is good, and self check-in is convenient. Those were the main positives for me. Our room was only okay and wasn't clean enough, with traces of urine on the toilet seat, among other things. The bathroom products seemed fake, there was a smoke smell despite the no-smoking signs, and the walls were so thin we could hear guests upstairs talking all night. The entrance light flickered through the night, either because it was broken or poorly set up. I didn't try breakfast, though I heard it was okay. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend the place.

There's a good Bulgarian restaurant called Rila just down the road, and the hotel's central location makes it easy to find dinner nearby. The hotel itself is clean and affordable, with comfortable beds. It occupies the first floor of an apartment block. In the afternoons and evenings there's no staffed reception, so you get your key from a safe deposit box at the back. The bathroom needed a bit more attention: the shower-bath converter tap was missing its button, and the sink soap dispenser was empty. Breakfast has fewer choices than at some hotels, but it was enough to start the day.

I liked that it was clean and neat, but sharing a toilet down the hall wasn't for me. I hadn't realised that was the arrangement when I booked. For one night, the place is okay, though I could hear the person next door talking on his phone for hours, right up until midnight. It isn't very soundproof. I'd rather pay extra for a private hotel room.

The location made getting around Munich easy. We could walk to the English Garden, and Universität U-Bahn station was nearby for trips to Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt and other sights. Even though the hotel is central, the area was quiet and we slept well. Our room was modern, spacious and spotless, with a very comfortable bed. Coffee and tea were available around the clock in the breakfast room, and the breakfast itself was a highlight: fresh bread, local meats and cheeses, and fruit, all delicious and high quality. Self check-in was easy, and the stay exceeded our expectations. Dogs are allowed ;)
