Right in the center of Murnau, the hotel has entrances from the main street and by the parking area. The reception isn’t staffed all the time, so keep that in mind if you’re arriving late. For example, check-in isn’t possible after 8 PM. The place is very traditional and rustic, with an old-fashioned feel. It’s family-run, and inside it almost feels like a museum. That style will be quite different from what most people expect, but if it suits you, it feels welcoming. My room was okay, though I found it odd that there was no mini-fridge. Breakfast was fairly limited. They’ll make coffee if you ask, and there are eggs sunny side up, scrambled, boiled, or as an omelette. Those are pretty much the only hot options. There’s also a modest selection of meat and cheese, plus yogurt, fruit, and spreads. I couldn’t find a toaster.

The staff were pleasant, and the hotel itself was good, but the TV barely worked because of a poor signal. What they called breakfast was more like a dry snack, which felt disappointing for the high price. Then, in the morning, loud repair work woke me up.

For a reasonable price, I got a great breakfast, helpful staff, and a spot right in the middle of town. I was only there for one night, but I’d come back if I needed a place to stay again.

You can step right out of the hotel and find plenty of cafés and restaurants nearby, since there’s no restaurant on site. It’s also right in the center of Murnau. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the place is run with care. They looked after us like guests coming home. The rooms were very clean, with plenty of storage, and the executive rooms were especially spacious. There are only two floors, but no elevator. There’s no air conditioning either, though you can ask for a fan. Breakfast had lots to choose from. I’d definitely stay again if I visit Murnau, and would recommend it to others.
