The cozy, homey feel was lovely, and the traditional German food was great. If you're nearby, it's well worth stopping in.

Really great.

That parsley root soup with salmon and the little Maultaschen sampler were both well cooked and fairly priced. We also enjoyed the pasture-raised lamb in both preparations, plus a cordon bleu that I asked to have made with beef instead of pork. The kitchen handled that change easily, and both main dishes were a delight. There was plenty to choose from on the menu, including game, starters, and fine spirits. Our waiter was friendly and attentive without hovering. The place has a lovely rustic, regional feel, too. We thought the food and service were superb and the value was excellent. We'd happily come back.

I was there to play music, and I've eaten at a lot of restaurants as a musician. What I had at the Schwanen ranks among the best I've experienced. Excellent food.
