Ostseehotel Neubukow

The stairs up to the first floor felt unsafe, and our room was dusty and far from clean. We stayed at the Hotel am Markt in Neubukow from December 26th to 29th, 2025, and the smell of old grease hung around the whole hotel the entire time. We weren't after luxury, but cleanliness should be a given. The room even seemed like it might be temporary. When I told the staff on day one that the TV channels weren't working, I was told, "I'll check." I never saw them again. The bathroom also seems badly laid out, as if the sides were switched, and the kitchen extractor fan needs attention because the smell was unbearable. At check-in, they went straight for the receipt pad. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The food was good, and so was the service. Breakfast was adequate. Our room worked fine for a night, though we had another one facing the main road, where there was plenty of truck traffic.

My single room is very clean and right on the market square, in the center of this small town. Shops, bakeries, and cafes are only a few steps away, and the train station takes just a few minutes to reach on foot. The town is also known as the town of Heinrich Schliemann.

We were a family of four and felt welcome and comfortable here. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. I especially liked the varied cold cuts, served in sensible amounts so there wasn't much left over. Coffee, tea, juice, eggs, cheese, sweet spreads, and muesli were all there too. The hotel isn't luxurious, but the price felt fair. We also really liked the schnitzel and steakhouse in the hotel. The servings are generous, prices are affordable, and drinks are very reasonably priced. It's a nice spot to linger. The Asian staff were friendly, and we'd happily come back.
