Hotel zum Anker

The view was right across the river, and waking to birdsong each morning was lovely. The hotel was very clean and had good services. We ate every meal at its restaurant, which also welcomes people who aren't staying at the hotel. On Tuesday, it was all-you-can-eat shrimp day. We couldn't pass that up and were glad we tried it, it was really tasty. The next day I had the regular hamburger, a classic done right with a perfect bun, juicy patty, and all the essentials. My husband chose the chateaubriand, which was delicious, juicy, and practically melted in your mouth. The goulash soup and Iberian pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon were also extremely tasty. I loved it all. There are lots of choices between the menu board and the specials, and you can't go wrong. Go see for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

We stopped on the terrace for an aperitif and waited nearly an hour for a small, unimpressive plate of cheese. The staff were very rude, spoke no English, made no effort to communicate, and showed no customer focus. Highly NOT recommended.

The restaurant is the real highlight, with excellent cooking and lovely wines from the neighboring vineyard to go with it. The staff were friendly, and the rooms were quiet, making for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was an excellent buffet and a good start to the day. The hotel sits right beside the Mosel in a charming village a little off the beaten path. Bernkastel-Kues, Traben-Trarbach, and even Trier are close enough, so it's a great base for a couple of days exploring the valley.

Lovely spot close to the Moselle, with excellent food quality and a very good price for what you get.
