The area is beautifully maintained and in a lovely natural setting, with a nice pool and good options for campers and families. There’s something for everyone to enjoy whatever the weather. The staff are always smiling and very friendly. When I asked for a replacement knife because the one there was blunt, they brought one over in less than an hour.

We spent five nights in a log cabin in June. They’re at the edge of the campsite, basic but attractive, with a covered table and chairs on the terrace and lovely views. There are good walks around the campsite, and you can walk to Austria easily, though reaching the Czech Republic is hard work. The play areas near the lake looked great, though we didn’t have children with us. Passau is about 40 minutes away and has a beautiful old town. Check-in and check-out were hard work, even though we speak a little German. On arrival and departure, you have to read the electricity meter behind a panel at the back of the wardrobe in the children’s bedroom. We also had a voucher from our booking agent that had to be shown both times. The campsite shop is handy for essentials, but in June it’s only open in the morning and evening. The restaurant was good value and the staff were friendly. If you’re self-catering, be aware that most shops close at lunchtime on Saturday and reopen Monday. There were two religious holidays during our June stay in Bavaria, when all the shops were closed but restaurants were open.

The toilet and washing facilities were very good and clean, and the staff were super helpful and friendly. The outdoor playground was lovely too. Some of the tent pitches are rocky, though.

Everything is in great condition, and there’s plenty to do even on rainy autumn days. I’d definitely recommend it.
