We have friends in Neuruppin and often need somewhere to stay when we visit. After this experience, I don't think we'll look anywhere else. The hotel's small chapel and restaurant in the oldest house in Neuruppin give it such a warm, welcoming feel. It was renovated last year, and you can tell: everything is up to date, the beds are super comfy, the windows black out completely, and the shower is amazing. Our first reaction was “wow” 😲 My wife's company booked the hotel, and I was lucky enough to come along. The staff were very friendly and handled adding me as an extra guest and a second night to the company booking, with everything correctly separated on the final invoice. They also made our late arrival easy by leaving our key in the restaurant for us to pick up. I wish more hotels in Germany were like this. I can't recommend it enough!

We sat outside on a really pleasant evening, while the inside was busy, which seemed like a good sign. Service was very good too. The German food was outstanding and great value. The pork and veal were exceptional, and there was a lot of it.

The setting had a Cabaret feel, like the beer garden scene, with apple trees full of fruit and a waiter as regimented and cheerful as a door knocker. The brew was yummy, and the vibe initially seemed just right, like a place with its own character, even if thousands of other guests might feel the same. But the meal was a letdown, a few fireworks short of a celebration. The trout was overcooked, and the boiled potatoes were just okay. The carp was a greasy mess. I think it was cooked in a deep fryer, which can work, but barely worked here. The vegetables were a rare chance to have them fresh, but these came from a jar. Bratkartoffeln should be boiled, cut, then fried. If frying them again, the oil needs to be smoking hot and the pan uncrowded, otherwise you get this result.

We ate at the courtyard restaurant while our family stayed at the Hotel. The food was nice, German style, and it's a lovely place. The location is great for walkers and cycle tourists, and there are accessible rooms with no stairs.

A cosy, welcoming restaurant in Neuruppin's oldest timbered house.
