Hotel Palatina

The staff were lovely, from the receptionist to the restaurant waiter and cook, and they were always smiling and ready to help when we needed anything. Our room was spacious, with four comfortable beds for us and the kids, a rain shower, and very clean, high-standard furnishings. The building is beautiful and old, now made into a modern hotel. The restaurant looked expensive at first, but after eating there, I could taste the quality of the ingredients and felt the meal was worth the price. Breakfast had a good range for everyone, with fresh eggs offered to each guest. The hotel's seller hosts 120 different kinds of gin, and though we couldn't try them all, we did get to sample one or two while having drinks at the bar in the evenings. We were very happy with our stay.

The breakfast had lots of different dishes, and there are plenty of tasty options at the restaurant too. The staff were polite and helpful, serving drinks late into the night and dinner until 22:00. There's also a wine gallery where you can taste and buy bottles. The spa has two saunas, places to relax, and massages by appointment for an extra charge. It's a very clean and tidy place to stay in Neustadt, with the spa and restaurant on site. A nice experience.

The connected restaurant was awesome, and the breakfast was good, though I don't think I'd have paid 18€ for it. The bar in the hotel wasn't open or active, and the spa could use more signs. The WC sign is behind the front desk/bar, just to its right. I stayed in the off season. The room was big and comfortable, the shower was nice, and dogs are welcome. Spa access and breakfast were included. Parking would've been easier near the pizzeria side once I'd got my key. Looks like a good spot to visit during wine season.

During summer, be ready for hot, sweaty nights. They switch off the AC at midnight for no apparent reason, and it was unbearable. I can imagine the beds getting pretty unsanitary after each summer. Germans and AC really don't seem to get along.
