For the price, I expected something different. Functionally, the holiday home has everything you need, but the view isn't the whole story. The natural setting was what we wanted, but during the first two days we had to remove several spiders from every room. There are lots of insects around, and I don't understand why the balcony doors and some windows don't have fly screens. Screens would help keep insects out and make it easier to air the house. Most of the floors are wood. The entrance area is dark brown, really dirty, and smells strongly musty. That smell goes through the whole house. Every step also makes a loud creak, so at night anyone getting up wakes everyone else. The house has a breathtaking view, but a holiday home needs more than that.

We spent a week enjoying the sunrise over Lake Rur, feeling tucked away in nature and very comfortable. The house is bright, inviting, and has everything you need for a relaxing week's holiday. If you're looking for peace and quiet with a fantastic lake view, this is the right place. Thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality. We'll definitely return!

The house sits high above the lake and has a truly special atmosphere. We spent a week and a half on holiday in Schmidt and had a lovely, relaxing time. It was very clean, and nothing was missing. We felt completely at ease.

We only stayed because the weather looked good enough for us to spend the whole time outdoors. The caretakers were very friendly, but couldn't make up for the problems inside, and otherwise we wouldn't have rented this house. The location is fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed the breathtaking lake views from both terraces. Inside, though, the house was disappointing. It has no Wi-Fi, even though it seems technically possible to install it, given the strong signal from neighboring networks. This isn't what hospitality should look like. The house smells musty throughout, including the attractively renovated basement bathroom. Scented sticks and air fresheners didn't solve it. The guest toilet was awful: broken towel hooks, some cracked tiles, exposed rusty pipes, the cheapest toilet seat, and just one guest towel for a week. The kitchen has plenty of space but lacks basic equipment. There are enough dishes, but only a few matching pieces, plus three tiny wine glasses, all very cheap. The living room sofa is worn out, stained, and torn; the armchair is stained and worn too. Some of the lovely wooden floors are worn in many places and need sanding and resealing. The walls and some of the old windows need fresh paint.
