After driving 700 kms for a funeral, we arrived at the time we'd arranged and found the building dark and the restaurant shut. Someone eventually answered the bell, asked us to fill out a breakfast order, then held out a card machine for payment before we'd even seen the two rooms we'd booked. There wasn't a word of welcome, despite us speaking fluent German. The staff made no effort to connect with us, and it felt especially bleak as a place to stay while attending a funeral. The rooms were warm and clean, but one bathroom had a broken toilet seat and only two of its three lights worked. The other room, meant for two people, had just one towel. Inside, the building feels worn out. The carpet on the stairs and in the hallway was dirty and badly worn. Breakfast was basic, with little service. Some workmen who'd stayed before us had smeared jam on the shared butter, and it was left that way. Our table had crumbs on it. January may not be the best time to visit, but the experience was still very disappointing.

We had a lovely dinner in the hotel restaurant, and breakfast came with fresh bread and an international-style spread. Tim gave us a very warm welcome, and our room was clean and tidy. It also had a lovely view. The rooms with views share a terrace, which suited me, though I can see that not everyone would like that. It's a cozy, family-run hotel, and I'd happily visit again.

The rooms were clean, and the bar and restaurant had a cozy feel. It's a cute little village to visit, too. We arrived very late, but the management stayed up well past the usual hours to welcome us. After a long day, we really appreciated that. Thanks for the great service!

I couldn't pay with my virtual credit card, so I didn't check in and instead found a very good hotel a few kilometers away. The restaurant was shut even though the website listed it as open, which felt like they were trying to lure guests in. The website is a complete sham: nothing it advertises is actually there apart from the building and its location. Calling it a hotel maybe made sense 30 years ago.
