Haus Dünensand, Appartment Düneninsel

For my month-long stay in June 2025, the location was fantastic: about three minutes on foot to the beach and five or six to the town center. The apartment was comfortable and very nice for a full month. The bathroom was great, and there was enough crockery and glassware for different drinks. The fridge is very small, though it does have a little freezer compartment; the two-burner stove was enough for me. A few things would make the place more practical. The dishwasher is useful, but there was no salt or rinse aid. Since the island is car-free and has a Rossmann drugstore, these could be included as standard, especially as they weigh about 3 kg together. Guests use the appliance, but it doesn't belong to any one tourist. A mop and bucket would help with quick cleanups too. I bought a bucket and left it there. Providing these things for guests should average around €10 a month, and I can't imagine anyone wanting to take them along, especially without a car. There was no chopping board, so I bought one and left it in the apartment. There was no frying pan either; I bought one but took it with me. Frying anything in the kitchen set off the living room smoke alarm because the kitchen has no ventilation. These are just my personal observations from staying there for 30 days.

The rental service showed no interest in hearing feedback about the apartment, which was a real shame. The woman in the office even seemed put out by a simple “Good morning.” The location is great, but that's about all I liked. The interior is clearly worn, and the furnishings are mediocre. The kitchen light didn't work, there was mold on the shower door, and the sink and faucet were loose. The bedroom layout left very little room to move. The mattresses may once have been good, but they aren't now, and they're much too narrow for the bed frame.

We spent Easter at Haus Dünensand again and loved having two levels. Since our last stay, the whole basement sleeping area has been beautifully renovated. There are also sunny yellow patio chairs outside now, just right for enjoying the spring sunshine. The location was a highlight too, with the beach and town both equally quick to reach. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.

The location is great, but the apartment shows signs of wear. Its bedroom layout is poorly thought out, leaving little room, and the furnishings are basic. For what you get, the price feels too high.
