Hotel Am Damenpfad & Haus Seeblick

The room was a decent size and very clean, with a small but functional bathroom. The hotel's central location is convenient, and the reception staff in the building across the street were exceptionally friendly and professional. Breakfast was good, too, with friendly service. The furnishings felt uninspired and distinctly dated, especially the carpeting in the room and hallway. With little effort, the hotel could make a better impression. There's no elevator, but the website states this clearly, and it didn't bother us. Still recommendable for a short stay.

The sea view from my third-floor room, number 18, at Hotel Seeblick was breathtaking, and being right on the beach with the town center only minutes away made the location excellent. I enjoyed my week on Norderney, especially the view and the swimming pool at the hotel across the street, which guests can use for free. But the price-performance ratio felt poor for €850. There's no elevator, so hauling luggage up the stairs was difficult. The room was very small and carpeted, which I didn't find comfortable. Breakfast was disappointing for me as a vegan: aside from plenty of fresh fruit and some vegetables, there were few suitable options. I could bring my own oat milk and vegan spread, but there was nowhere to keep them chilled, so they had to sit in my warm room. The products could have been bought for €2.50, and I think vegan guests should be better catered for at that price, especially for a week-long stay. The bathroom was lacking, too, with just a little bar of soap and shampoo in disposable sachets. I've had more comfort in cheaper places.

The location is the one good thing about this hotel. It badly needs renovation. There was no safe or refrigerator in the room, the mattresses were worn out, and the carpets were dirty. It felt more like a youth hostel. The room door locked like a private front door, so if you left without locking it, anyone could get in. The front door to the lake-view building was constantly open, with the wind whistling through the doors. As for the staff, they were unfriendly, especially at breakfast, where they liked to gossip about guests. The buffet didn't work for people with food intolerances and had no alternatives such as lactose-free milk. We ended up having breakfast elsewhere. Such a shame. We won't come back and definitely won't recommend it.

The friendly staff and excellent breakfast made a great impression. The room was great too, and I really have nothing to complain about. Highly recommended! 👍
