We’d happily rent apartment 5 again. Friedrichstrasse suited us perfectly, close to the beach while still in the town center. Inside, everything was clean, tidy, and in good order, and the balcony is great, though it could use more thoughtful furniture and a proper table. A few floor panels are coming loose, so their screws need tightening or replacing, but that should be a quick fix. The landlord was ready for us and handing over the key went smoothly. Just be aware that the top-floor apartment means climbing four flights, 44 steps in all.

My parents couldn’t make the trip because of an unexpected care-related issue, so I can’t comment on the property itself. What I can describe is the very disappointing communication with the landlord. My parents tried repeatedly to reach her, by phone and voicemail, and also sent an email, but got no response. We finally spoke with her on Thursday. The call turned into an argument: she was extremely unfriendly, wouldn’t let us finish, and refused to have a reasonable conversation. It was clear from what she said that she had already read the messages and email. She apparently felt caught out, then hung up. That was unacceptable and deeply regrettable. The apartment was later listed on booking.com for over €9,000 for three nights, during the last few days my parents would have been there. Whether that was greed or a mistake is for readers to decide. Based on this experience, I strongly advise against booking if human interaction matters to you.

The holiday apartment itself was good, with only minor cosmetic issues. The service didn’t match what was described: there was no change of linen after 4 days. It seems hard to find reliable staff.

I love coming back to this cozy apartment each year. This was my fourth stay, and it’s always been a wonderful time. The hosts are all really nice, and I love the sea!
