Logierhaus am Denkmal

Once we found our way around, the three days went smoothly. At first we searched for reception in three different buildings: check-in was at the guesthouse by the town hall, while we slept at the guesthouse by the monument. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and kept being replenished. The restaurant is also highly recommended, everything was delicious 😋

The location is good, not far from the beach and shops, and things were quiet downstairs after ten. But you can really smell the restaurant below, and there’s a lot of noise from other rooms, like chairs being moved. The beds felt very soft, which won’t suit people with back problems. The shower is tiny, and there’s no trash bin in the extra room. The family room does have an additional space, but getting to it is hard for young families, especially with strollers, and people with disabilities may also struggle with the stairs.

The one real bright spot was how clean the rooms were. The cleaning staff were very friendly and thorough, though they took an unbelievably long time. Breakfast had variety and tasted quite good, but I’d rethink the scrambled eggs. When you open the warmer, they have the aroma of eggs from factory farms fed fish products. As for the rooms, the mattresses were incredibly uncomfortable and slid apart whenever we moved. Mine was uneven enough that I had to balance on a slight slope, while my husband’s sagged in comparison. The shower is far too small, about 60x60cm at most, and badly needs a complete renovation. We had one room for us and another for the children. Ours had an old farmhouse wardrobe that was quite nice, but theirs had an old, rickety IKEA model with barely enough space for two guests. There was no safe, full-length mirror, or mini-fridge, and the furnishings overall felt spartan, with little appeal. I was only really impressed by the self-contained restaurant in the same building. Considering the price, I can’t give the rooms a good rating.

The room was very clean, and for the price it was fine for one night. Still, with a one-year-old, I wouldn't choose it again. It's tiny, there's no kettle or elevator, and getting a stroller and luggage up to the second floor is a pain. You also have to pass through the restaurant downstairs to reach the room. The curtains let in too much light, which made it hard to get our daughter to sleep, and the bathroom felt quite dated. Fine for a short stay, but not somewhere I'd recommend to a family with a baby.
