Really, the hostel is beautiful, and the service was great. It was so clean, which can be questionable at some hostels. Definitely a great option for families!

Our room was in the tower, with fantastic views over the old city centre. It was clean and well thought out, with sturdy bunk beds and all the lamps there. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed as a family and found it a great place. The hostel is in a castle, centrally located, and still quiet at night. I’d happily stay there again.

The setting is exceptional, right in the central castle of beautiful Nuremberg, and the rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet is perfect. Staff are attentive, and there’s a buffet-style restaurant and a bar on site. Probably one of the best DJH in Germany. Groups should be aware of the very strict noise policy: after 22pm it’s curfew, with wigils patrolling at night, so be sure to behave and warn your students.

I was due to stay two nights but left after just one. No money is worth another night there, and I still can’t believe I paid for this. At 7:00am, someone started loudly strumming a guitar in the hallway, probably to wake the kids there for a seminar. I was already awake anyway. The room for four was tiny, and the bathroom had no door, so you step out of the shower straight into someone’s bed. It was unbearably hot, with no fan, AC, or ventilation. There was just one window, and I kept it closed because of the street noise, so the room felt totally airless. Snoring, coughing, and the smell at night kept me from sleeping. The mattress was hard, and the sheets stuck to me from all the sweating. I could barely shut my eyes for 10 minutes. Only one receptionist spoke English. Guests without membership pay an extra 3.5EU per night. You have to make your own bed and return the sheets to a laundry room before checkout. Breakfast was OK, I guess, but I couldn’t enjoy it because I felt sick from the smell in my room and was still soaked in sweat. The vegetables and bread definitely weren’t fresh, though the rest was OK. The cold water and juice were a welcome surprise and exactly what I needed after that night.
