Three minutes to feeling good. That's how long, or rather how short, it takes to walk from Nuremberg Central Station to our newest hotel in Germany. A few steps further on, the picturesque old town awaits. So it's no wonder that we chose a name to match: Scandic Nuremberg Central. Comfortable and sustainable, individual and functional - this is important to us and we are also focusing on this in Bavaria's second largest city. From the 311 spacious and elegantly modern rooms, studios and suites to the stylish wellness area with two saunas and an indoor pool. The fitness area impresses with the latest equipment, plenty of space for yoga and stretching and a 180-degree panorama. Franconia meets the world - this is particularly true of the culinary offerings at the Scandic. Both the Public Kitchen & Bar and The Blend, an unagitated mix of coffee shop and bar, serve traditional classics with an international twist. For larger and smaller events, there are three meeting rooms and the Ballroom, which is furnished with historical details. Always included: high-quality technology and uncomplicated catering with local products.

Being so close to the train station makes getting around easy, and Nuremberg is a lovely city. My partner and I have already stayed at this Scandic twice on short trips, and we’ll be back soon for a longer one. It’ll be our go-to when we return. The gym is well equipped, there’s a separate yoga room, and the city view from the gym is lovely. I liked the fresh apples after exercising, too. I didn’t bring my swimsuit, so I missed the pool this time, but I’ll plan for it next visit. Our room felt calm and homey, and the whole hotel was quiet and peaceful. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, everything was spotless, and the place is clearly well maintained. The lobby and shared spaces are beautifully designed and welcoming. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

The pool is about 1.40 meters deep, and I enjoyed it, though it would’ve been better heated. There are two saunas, at 65 and 90 degrees, with the 90 degree one being larger, plus a lounge nearby to relax in. There’s also an exercise room, but it isn’t a gym. The room was great and breakfast was good, and the main train station is about a six minute walk. I didn’t like that there was no hygiene package in the room.

I stayed eight nights and never got tired of breakfast. Melissa and her coworkers greeted me warmly every day, which I especially loved. The room was spacious, with a huge balcony. The gym opening at 07:00 felt a bit late, but it wasn’t a deal-breaker. Having a sauna was nice during the harsh winter, though it costs an extra 10 EU per room for the whole stay. I’d give it five stars if there were a self-service laundry room.

The room had a lovely interior, and for the reasonable price I was very satisfied with my stay. There’s a gym, so it could work for a longer visit. The sauna is available too, but you have to wear swimwear. My standard room had no amenities, and the lack of even a tissue box was the most inconvenient part. I asked at the front desk, but they said tissue boxes aren’t provided as standard.

We spent a bit more than planned, but didn’t regret it. The hotel is in an exceptional spot, right by the train station and at the edge of the old town. Our room was lovely, clean and quiet, and we had a very comfortable few nights. Breakfast was good quality, too.
