I always enjoy seeing the Harz Narrow Gauge Railway pass right behind the house. The apartment is a good fit if you’re after a quieter spot in the Upper Harz Mountains. Mrs. Rathke is welcoming and friendly, and does her best to make guests feel at home. It’s partly renovated, sleeps up to three, and has a small balcony. Dogs are very welcome too.

The beds are really comfortable, and the location is both lovely and quiet. There’s parking, Wi-Fi, and our dogs were welcome. The landlady is a very friendly, accommodating woman who’s always available, and she makes a delicious breakfast. The apartment has great furnishings, a lovely bathroom, and everything you need. It was clean and tidy, and we felt at home right away. We’re very happy with our stay and will definitely come back.

You can watch the steam train pass just behind the house a few times a day. It’s a quiet location, with parking right at the property. The holiday apartment has a terrace and a separate room for the children, and the hosts are very friendly. We’d love to come back.

I’m sharing this for my parents, who are in their mid-80s and no longer have internet access. They highly recommend the 4-star holiday apartment at Wildpark 19 in Bad Harzburg if you want peace and quiet as well as plenty to do in your free time. They say the Rathke family are extremely hospitable and always helpful. Repeat visitors, Willy and Erika Teichert.
