We really needed somewhere to stay, and this turned out to be a great hotel. The fresh breakfast buffet was lovely, and the staff were very helpful. Knowing a little German goes a long way here.

We spent a weekend here and thought it was excellent value for money. The rooms are simply furnished, but have everything you need, and the whole place is clean and tidy. The owners are very friendly. Some people dislike being addressed informally, but we didn't mind it at all. It actually made the place feel more like a family gathering. Breakfast was fantastic, with nothing missing. We were out exploring during the day, and in the evening we were even allowed to use the bowling alley. We had a great time.

I booked this place on the spur of the moment as a base for hiking and exploring the Harz Mountains, and it worked out perfectly. There are plenty of nearby towns and tunnels to visit if it rains, and the Brocken is close too. You can hike all around the Rappbode Dam and lake. The room was small but affordable, in good condition, and exceptionally clean, especially the bathroom, where I've had very different experiences elsewhere. Breakfast was good, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The restaurant serves very good food on Fridays and Saturdays, though it can get busy at short notice. I highly recommend it.
