Pflugwirts Hotel und Gasthaus

A peaceful spot in a beautiful area. Everything was clean and well organized, and the staff made us feel welcome. We had a great stay and would highly recommend it!

The staff were friendly and efficient. Our spacious, clean room stayed quiet even though there was a gathering or celebration downstairs. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and high quality, so it’s worth stopping in for a meal. The drive must be incredibly scenic in spring, with cherry and apple orchards along the road and the Black Forest in the background.

We had a restful night in a real little village, with clean air and quiet streets. Unlike the Bavarian towns where we stayed, there were no trucks rumbling, braking, and spewing exhaust through the night. I wish we’d had another day to relax and take a leisurely walk around. The hotel has an 1840 establishment sign, though inside it feels completely modern, which was a nice change. It was very clean, with tasteful, sparse decorations. We had two rooms, one for the kids. The bathrooms were spotless, with no mildew or lingering smells. The beds were neither too hard nor too soft, though they might feel a bit firm to some side sleepers. Breakfast was very good and refreshingly quiet in this small hotel. A sweet elderly frau made fresh eggs instead of serving them from a buffet pan that had been sitting for hours. Outside, there’s a garden courtyard where you can sit in the breeze. Our second-floor room had two nice decks, so we could choose the breezier one. The highlight on the way out was taking a wrong turn about a km down the road and spotting a hotel with SIX huge storks nests on its roof. The storks were there too, including one feeding its young. There’s no Air Conditioning, like virtually all of Germany we’ve visited. But the two places we stayed that had AC were terrible, while this hotel cooled down quickly and had fans ready to use. A great place to relax away from packed tourist towns.

A good place to experience life in a small farming community. The hotel and Restaurant are wheelchair accessible. If you need the accessible room, make sure to call and enquire. The restaurant is excellent, though it gets quite busy on weekends and holidays. Everyone is friendly and helpful.
