The farmhouse sits tucked into a steep valley among the area's tallest peaks, giving the place a rugged, secluded feel. It’s a tiny, cosy traditional Black Forest restaurant, and the food feels genuinely local, like it could have been served a hundred years ago. If you know the local cuisine or are really hungry, try the "Holzfällersteak". It’s delicious and very filling, so order plenty of house wine with it. For dinner, give the owners a quick call to reserve, as there aren’t many seats.

Cold weather, snow, and the mountain, plus really good food. That’s an awesome combination.

I came because the reviews were so positive, but the food fell short of what I’d expected. The sausage salad was much too salty for me, and my companion thought theirs was too. We only ate part of the sausage salad. My companion had a schnitzel, which was salty too, though considerably less so. After we told the staff, a group at the next table also told the server their food was very salty. Maybe it was just an off day, which can happen, but I wanted to share what happened and hope the feedback is taken constructively. Thank you for your feedback. I’d like to clarify politely that my sausage salad was objectively too salty. Whether other guests finish their meals or how many portions are sold doesn’t change my specific experience. I mean this feedback to be objective and constructive.
