The landlord was nice. That’s about it. I stayed in the apartment on the lower ground floor, and it smelled extremely musty, like a damp cellar. Before I could use the kitchenette kettle, I had to scrub it for ages. The microwave was disgusting too, though the landlord cleaned it after I reacted rather angrily. There was lots of hair in the bed and shower when I arrived. The bathroom ceiling had an extreme mold infestation, carelessly painted over with white paint. There’s another apartment and guest rooms upstairs in the building, but I can’t speak to those. In short, it’s okay for a one-night stopover, but unfortunately I can’t recommend it for a four-week work assignment.

We had a week’s holiday here and were completely satisfied. Oberwesel is a beautiful town with lots of attractions and sights, and from the balcony you get a lovely view of Schönburg Castle. The apartment is right in the center but still very quiet. Mr. Karbach was friendly and helpful. The furnishings are quite dated, but everything is clean and works. The value for money is excellent, so you can’t expect "gold-plated faucets" at this price. We highly recommend the apartment.

There’s plenty of room in this large apartment, which makes it ideal for families, and the landlord was very friendly with great tips for the area. I’m giving four stars because the mattress was defective and the bed linens smelled too strongly of fabric softener.
