Hotel Schwan

The owners and receptionist were genuinely kind. After I left my key card in the room, I called after midnight and woke them, but a young woman brought it over within minutes and we sorted it out with a smile. I was there for two nights for a business meeting. The hotel is picturesque and sits by the Rhine, though the nearby main road could be noisy, even in the lovely front garden. That garden was stunning, and we spent time there whenever we could to enjoy the peace and quiet. Reception hours were limited, so check-in meant entering a code at the mailbox to get a key card. It was easy. My room was large enough and the bathroom was spacious and modern, but there was no air conditioning. Since I was in the attic, it felt too warm for me. The room's internet was fast enough for streaming. The conference room connection barely worked, so I had to use my phone hotspot. It was fairly quiet in the hotel yard, and there were cold drinks in a fridge plus tea and coffee. Breakfast was a simple but tasty continental spread: scrambled eggs, sausages, ham, muesli, fruit, yogurt, pastries, coffee, and tea. Lunch both days was a letdown, plain and not seasoned. There was a vending machine by reception with beer, wine, and other alcoholic drinks, plus a cigarette machine. It was a pleasant stay, but I'm unsure I'd pick this place again for business. I don't think the hotel is really set up for that kind of guest. I visited in May 2022.

I’d recommend the unrenovated room very highly. It seemed like the best value for money in Germany. The electronic code made everything easy, and the property is beautiful. I was only there for about 12 hours between check-in and check-out, so I wish I’d had longer. I skipped breakfast, though the breakfast hall looked amazing.

My stay at Hotel Schwan was perfect, even though I booked the cheapest room to fit my budget. The room was very clean and felt high class, and the reception staff were friendly and professional. Thanks for everything.

We spent a week here while touring the Rheingau wine area. The location worked really well, and everything was fine and proper. I’d happily recommend it and come back. It’s great!
