The apartment was simple, but it suited the two of us on a business trip well. We had lots of space, with separate bedrooms, a living room, and a small kitchen. My friend Daniel and I visited the JGU and cycled to Mainz without any trouble. It took a little over an hour, and the bike routes were excellent. This is a great base for a weekend or longer stay if you're looking for things to do near Oppenhein or have business in Mainz. I'd strongly recommend staying here instead of booking a hotel in central Mainz, which is rather expensive.

We were disappointed with the tour, especially after a wonderful visit to another winery the year before. The four wines were briefly explained before we set off, but there wasn't any information about grape varieties, viticulture, or how the wine is made. At both stops, the driver stayed far away from the group. The sausage and cheese came in a plastic bag and didn't look very appealing. Mustard would have been a nice touch. We were greeted warmly and got a short outline of the route and how long the tour would take.

Several colleagues arrived late for our summer party last Friday, so we had to improvise, but that was fine. We did a vineyard tour and then stopped at a wine tavern. The wine was delicious, and some people even took some home. It turned out to be a thoroughly successful event. We'd come back anytime.

The history, different wine varieties, and how they're made were explained really well. We were there with colleagues from the company, got excellent advice, and had a good selection of wines throughout the tour. I'd gladly recommend it.
