Hotel Westermann

I won't be returning. On my first visit, an older male receptionist wrongly said my booking wasn't there, even though I had clear proof. A capable female receptionist eventually sorted it out. The same man was just as unfriendly when I came back, and my friends from overseas were shocked by how he treated us. A bad day doesn't excuse being hostile to guests. The service was completely unacceptable, and he was rude and unprofessional.

The one thing I'd change directly is the electric car charging. The hotel only has one spot, and it was already occupied when we arrived. Luckily, there's an inexpensive garage about a five-minute walk away with two 22 kW chargers. We liked the breakfast, too, and the breakfast room is spacious. There's also a connected restaurant, which we didn't try. The hotel has its own parking, good beds, spacious rooms, and individual air conditioning, so it works well for an overnight stop on a trip. The bathroom is a little dated, but everything still works, and there are very affordable drinks at the bar in the evening.

The reception staff were the one letdown, as they weren't very nice or helpful. The room was spacious and clean, with a good bathroom and walk-in shower. Breakfast had a really good selection in a big dining area, and guest parking is free. There was no kettle or bottled water, just fizzy drinks in the fridge at €1.50 a bottle.

The room was quiet, and having a mini fridge was handy. Apart from that, there was nothing positive for me. Worst reception ever! There were no toiletries at check-in, so I asked the older man at reception for shampoo and soap. He refused at first, saying they give two bottles of shampoo for one week and more only if you stay longer. I explained there was no shampoo in my room. After ten minutes of discussion, he gave me two tiny bottles, about 2 cm each. When I asked for soap, he started touching different parts of his body and said shampoo was fine for hands, face, hair, armpits, and everywhere else. They wouldn't give me soap or shampoo, and the staff were rude and impolite. Staying there felt like disrespecting myself. Worst reception ever!
