Hof Sonnengold

We came looking for somewhere quiet and not yet overrun with tourists, and found just that at this wonderful little farm. Its secluded setting was a big part of what we loved. The two hosts were very friendly and always glad to answer questions from us city dwellers. The holiday apartment description is spot on. It’s cosy and has what you need, including basic spices, salt, sugar and coffee. We could have spent all day watching the farm animals. It was so relaxing, with geese, ducks, special chicken breeds and donkeys to see, plus a small apiary. The honey is delicious. Thank you! You can also walk around the immediate area, which is very peaceful. The nearest big shopping area is about 8 km away, while Bremen and Bremerhaven are roughly 20-30 minutes by car. We felt very, very comfortable and highly recommend this peaceful little gem.

The apartment was nicely furnished and very clean. The sofa bed nook in the kitchen-living room is bigger than it looks in the website photos, and both hosts were attentive and helpful. We also found the farm tour interesting and informative, and came away with ideas for our own garden. It was a different kind of farm holiday, but a very relaxing one. My daughter, her teenage friend and I spent five wonderful days here on a girls’ trip. Teenagers aren’t usually keen on cultural activities, so we spent most of our time around the farm animals. We’ve never taken so many chicken photos! There was always something to watch and laugh about. I thought chickens ran away from people, but these came running to greet us as soon as we arrived 😍🐓. Even the ducklings and their mother ran up, which broke the ice. Sam 🦮 and Max 🦮 are affectionate dogs who make it very clear they want cuddles and pets 😅. They’ve mastered that loyal puppy-dog look 👍🏻😍. Resisting is nearly impossible, unless you’re very determined and a little sad about it 🙈. If you can pull yourself away from the animals, there’s plenty to do nearby. Cycling and hiking are great. The spring-fed lakes are a bit too far to walk to with all your gear, so bikes would be ideal if you want to leave the car behind. Definitely recommended. Keep up the good work, Arne and Heiko! On our second visit to the "Sonnengold" farm, the great impression from the first time was even stronger. We once again loved the animals and the wonderful peace and quiet. The owners are a very, very nice couple who are always happy to answer questions from city dwellers. They also gave us a fantastic tour, explaining the whole project and its organic principles. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the farm.

We can’t say anything about the rooms, but the farm itself is run by a very friendly couple. They have a great fruit-growing project, along with geese, chickens and ducks. There’s also a small flock of our Gotland sheep now, helping look after the pastures. A great project all around!
