The excellent breakfast, wellness area, and train station shuttle stood out. The living room and bathroom were cleaned perfectly, and the service was proper. I had a fairly small country-style double room, though, with very low beds and sharp edges that could cause an injury. There also wasn't enough room to store suitcases. It's a cozy place with the feel of an early 20th-century romantic seaside resort, and that style really ought to be restored.

We've been to Binz regularly and have always loved staying at Kurhaus Travel Charme, but decided to try somewhere different this time. That was a mistake. The mattresses were worn and should have been replaced long ago. Both had a noticeable dip where you'd typically sit, and on one of them you actually rolled to the side when lying down. I asked for replacements, but they said there were no spare mattresses. The sauna music system wouldn't connect to Bluetooth. My phone showed three connections, all belonging to saunas in nearby rooms, and there was no label or other way to tell which one was ours. Staff said they'd check a list and let us know, but never followed up. The dimmable sauna LED also wouldn't switch on or off properly and flickered all night. A technician changed the remote batteries but didn't fix the light. Our room was extremely hot and we couldn't adjust the temperature, so we had to sleep with a window open, despite it being February 2024 and 7 degrees Celsius outside. When I raised it at reception that evening, the woman there said she was just helping out, didn't know the hotel or rooms, and couldn't say if anything could be done. She said nobody else was at the hotel and we'd have to wait until the next day. In the morning we learned the temperature in our Junior Suite couldn't be adjusted individually. Apparently the person who explained that was more familiar with the hotel than her colleague the night before. At checkout they asked whether we'd enjoyed our stay. I said not really and calmly explained these problems. The only response was, “Oh, so there is room for improvement!” There was no apology or anything else. That just isn't good enough. From now on, it'll be Travel Charme for us again.

It's a good hotel, and we liked it, even though it's not luxury. We had a superior room with a nice view. The rooms people mention that overlook the parking must be the smaller ones. The spa was a bit disappointing and lacked atmosphere.

That leaf-gold decor really stuck in my mind. The hotel has a lovely restaurant and bar, and our room was clean and big enough. It’s an easy walk to the restaurants and sights in the picturesque town. There’s also an indoor pool, WiFi, and parking. One thing to know: during our visit, the staff spoke only very basic English at best. Checking in and out went fine with simple English and German.
