The apartments are modern, both in their construction and equipment, and the location gives you a beautiful view of the lake and sea. A relaxing weekend or vacation getaway I’d recommend.

It’s okay so far. They’re renovating, so I’ll review again once it’s finished.

We spent 7 days in the Grosse Welle apartment in the old nautical school. The apartment has above-average facilities, and the kitchen has everything you need and then some. The living area and bathrooms were very clean, and the large balcony has a fantastic view. The winter price is very good. We were satisfied overall and would definitely recommend it. There were a couple of drawbacks. The stairwell lights were filthy and covered in cobwebs, which looked unsightly, though it wasn’t a disaster or enough to affect our star rating. Parking was the bigger issue. There’s only one space for apartments that can sleep several people, but finding parking without paying €12 a day is impossible. That’s too expensive, and you’re assigned a spot that can be quite far away, even when the place is empty. They could be more flexible about parking during the winter.

We booked this 5-star apartment for New Year’s, expecting two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a sea view. We were two couples arriving by car from different parts of the country, but there was only one assigned parking space. This wasn’t mentioned when booking, so anyone with a second car is left to fend for themselves. There are no electric vehicle charging stations in the complex or town. The “second bedroom” is a windowless cubicle with sliding doors separating it from the living area. When the wind is above force 5, the ventilation system rattles loudly from the roof and makes it impossible to rest. The hot water supply isn’t proper either. After a cold winter walk on the beach, we found only cold water for showers. Maybe, like in the days of the East German trade union federation (FDGB), guests are expected to shower in shifts. The sea view is past the church and onto the lagoon, so at least you can see water. This is nowhere near a 5-star property and is completely overpriced.

We stayed over New Year’s Eve 2025, and our conclusion was five days without hot water, plus constant knocking noises from the fans. That’s unacceptable these days. A small refund doesn’t come close to fixing the poor value for money. I hope the hot water issue really wasn’t caused by the resort being fully booked, as we were told several times. It can’t be right to have to try showering at a particular time, like at a bad campsite. We tried all sorts of times and never got hot water. The fans knock constantly, even in slightly stronger winds. It needs urgent attention. Sometimes the noise woke us, or made us think someone was at the wall or door. The “Sun God” apartment itself was quite good, though the layout felt awkward, with the living and TV area like a small niche compared with the rest of the place. The building is far too large for our taste and feels like a school or residential facility. If you get an “unfavorable” apartment, the walk to the underground garage or exits can be quite long. You have to be okay with that. The underground parking spot was great, the apartment very clean, and the town location very good, with some nice views. It wasn’t all bad, but for us it’s “never again.” For over €200 a night, you can usually find apartments that are perfectly fine and, above all, have hot water. We can’t recommend this property.
