Berghaus Freiburg

The food was amazing, and I especially recommend breakfast. We were a family of four with two elementary school aged kids, and the rooms were spacious. We had the medium room, with lots of open space. The location was perfect, and all the staff were really helpful. Even when we struggled with German, they spoke great English, so there was no need to worry.

We spent five nights at Berghaus Freiburg Appartements in July 2024, with my husband and our two children, aged 8 and 13. Being right in nature was lovely. Our room, 207, had two huge windows, and the sunset view from them was amazing. Breakfast was so good, and the sauna made the stay even better. Everyone on staff was kind. And you really shouldn’t leave without trying a piece of Black Forest cake!

The apartments are very clean, and the food is excellent. You can also sign up to use the sauna. The area is wonderful for hiking or a mountain bike day, so it’s absolutely worth staying here. Getting there could be difficult for anyone with walking problems, though. For a short stop, you can park right in front of the door and avoid the small uphill stretch.

The setting is charming, with plenty of interesting things to do nearby, and the staff are friendly, helpful, and patient. Breakfast was good, and so was the restaurant, especially considering it’s a berghaus. The rooms are modern and comfortable, in a hard-to-beat spot near the top of a small mountain. In the morning, the quiet, cool forest is right outside the huge windows, with Freibourg visible through the leaves as the fog lifts. Magical and relaxing.
